Full-time. Kay has been saved by Wadawu’s strike for his embarrassing slip for Robb’s goal

90+3 Three minutes into stoppage time and the time between the injury to Woolley has passed! Only a matter of seconds left surely!

90′ Wadawu works his magic and dazzles his opponent before crossing to the penalty spot to an unmarked Kumpulanien who strikes the ball onto the upright when he SHOULD have scored!

87′ GOAL!!!!!! 2-1! WADAWU WADAGOAL! Olympia deals a double blow for the Knights, burying a curling free kick from the edge of the circle at the top of the 18 yard box. George Mamacas; are you out there?

The first action for Ben Peter was to pull the ball out of the back of his own net!

85′ Letiko OFF, Peter ON. Knights are forced to reshuffle, with Huigsloot now the only man up top for the Knights.

84′ There is a stoppage as Woolley and Le Rossignol stay down on the deck but once Le Rossignol lifts himself up, Jozeljac produces a RED CARD for the keeper! He’s off!

83′ Warriors loft a long high clearance and its a foot race between Woolley and Le Rossignol who clatters the Warriors player!

81′ Wadawu crosses to the back post and Woolley slides but can’t make contact.

79′ Griffin clears a shot from Taylor off the line following a corner! Olympia piling on the pressure now. Warriors had pushed for a corner after Fielding and Wadawu broke 2-on-1 with Johnson, but Johnson did well to push Fielding wide and the chance fizzled.

77′ Mohamad makes a smart run from a corner and deflects a ball across the face and Knights clear momentarily. But Fielding regains possession and appeals for handball in the box as Fielding’s cross hits Holmes in the midriff. Olympia attack again and earn a free-kick on the edge of the box, but Meredith wastes it, shooting wide.

73′ All to play for in the final 15 minutes with the scores locked at 1-1. Kay looked safe as Robb played a seemingly harmless cross but he had to quickly back peddle as the ball dropped and he could only palm it into the back of the net.

72′ GOAL! 1-1! An absolute howler from Kay who lets Robb’s right-wing cross to sail into the top corner! A shocking mistake from the goalkeeper.

68′ Clay plays a short corner to the on running Robb who strikes the ball along the deck across the face of a crowded penalty area

62′ Caution (Knight): Robb receives a red card for kicking the ball away

58′ Huigsloot does well to bring down a long ball and slip it into the path of Dawes who shoots across the face.

55‘ Fielding (Warriors) and Griffin (Knights) both have hopeful chances from distance for their respective sides but they fail to trouble either opposing keeper.

53′ OHH! Knights so close to the equaliser there as Marney crosses to Huigsloot at the back post and he heads across the goal and wheels away in celebration with Kay beaten! But the ball strikes the left upright and Olympia clear!

51′ Meredith controls after nice work from Fielding on the right and he shoots just over Le Rossignol’s bar.

50′ At the other end, Hey finds some space about 20m out and curls a shot towards Kay’s top corner! But the keeper reads it an moves across to save.

49′ Meredith cuts inside following a corner and drives a shot at Le Rossignol who dives to his left and palms away.

47′ Letiko slices a shot wide of the target as a ball lofted from the right-hand side makes it to the back post.

Second-half. The second period is underway.

Half-time: It’s been a fairly straight forward affair so far here tonight at Warrior Park. The Knights are really missing my boy Simon Strang and without him they lack a real danger up front. Tom Huigsloot has returned to his old club but he is only really posing a threat at set pieces and even then they have failed to find him. The Warriors have been good for their goal and look the more dangerous of the two sides. Wadawu has hit the upright and Meredith’s opportunistic strike from a corner is the thing that separates the two teams. Hard to see the Knights making an impact in the second half unless they really change things up. Stay tuned for the second half in about 10 minutes.

43′ Wadawu hits a scorcher that rattles the right upright! Woolley had put him through on the right with a nice flick and Wadawu hit it first time from an angle on the right! So close to a second there for the Warriors!

42′ Clay wastes the set piece, overhitting it and it goes out for a goal kick.

41′ Not long left in this half and Knights have another set piece about 35 yards out and straight in front!

39′ Taylor is back up but off the pitch. Knights have a corner and Holmes heads their first shot on target but it is easily collected by Kay.

37′ Taylor is down on the deck after seemingly clashing heads with a Knights player from a long throw. The game has stopped while he gets some treatment.

34′ Fielding is called offside when he was through! He wasn’t happy with that! It was very close!

28′ Clay shoots wide to the left from the free kick. Kay let off the hook with that one!

27′ Kay goes over the line as he goes to kick it out. Knights with an indirect free kick on the edge of the area! Very dangerous for Warriors here!

21′ Wadawu has a great chance in front of goal from a pull back from Meredith. Meredith’s cross was blocked and fell to Wadawu but his shot was well blocked by Holmes in the six yard box!

18′ Taylor heads over at the front post from a Mason corner on the right.

17′ Wadawu gets in on the right and tries to square it but it is cleared for a corner.

14′ Marney shoots just wide after a long ball from Huigsloot was flicked on by Robb. It gets called for a corner! Dubious call and this could hurt them given Huigsloot’s presence in the air! It is cleared well.

11′ GOAL! Olympia 1-0! Woolley knocks in a corner and Meredith controls it at the back post and then slots it in the bottom left hand corner! Great start for the home team. One shot, one goal!

10′ We’re ten minutes in here and both teams are yet to register a shot on or off target!

7′ We’ve got a special third blogger with us tonight with a stunning pink laptop! We will get a pic up later!

5′ It’s been all Knights so far. Here they are with their first corner. It is well cleared at the front post.

3′ Tom Huigsloot is back playing for Knights for the first time in years!

We’re under way here at Warrior Park.

Line-ups:

  2. Gill says:

Heritage round or something? Surely you are having a laugh lads? If Tommy is back Knights are a sniff for the four, that is just so good.

    • tbp2011 says:

Not a heritage round and we are not jesting. He is out there running around and making a nuisance of himself up top for Knights.

  3. Lucy says:

Have Knight’s run out of promising reserves, who can fill in for absent PL players? No disrespect to Tommy, but where is the club depth? That said…” Go Knights”!

  4. Dave says:

Bloody hell he was a good player in his prime, one of the best. good to see him helping his club when in need. pity his nephew is injured and couldnt play with him!

  5. Pj says:

    How was this indirect?

Hands down the worst display of officiating I have ever witnessed, and i have been watching the game for years. Ivan is the worst referee in tasmania. He should be stripped of his licence. No way in any ones right mind should trent have been red carded, the ball was cleared, it was a 50 50 challenge, if he got red carded, so too should the olympic player. How could anyone expect the knights to win when they were playing against twelve men.

    • Mate says:

If you don’t delete that comment TPB is a joke. Obviously biased as hell and shouldn’t have seen the light of day.

      • Mate says:

Should have said *the comment is biased as hell.

        • tbp2011 says:

          Hi Mate,

We agree, the comment is obviously biased and as such should be taken with a grain of salt. The send off was probably there but there were others at the ground that didn’t think so. Regardless, the footage will tell the final story and even that will be debated for days to come.

If we were not to publish every biased comment we got on this blog we would not be publishing much. Everyone has an agenda no matter how big or small and it is not up to us to edit that out. Where it crosses into defamatory or personal attacks then we step in.

We commend both Ivan and the other referees for the fine work they do in contributing to the game in Tasmania. They help us do our jobs and are always accommodating with team sheets and any questions we might have during or after the game.

But that contribution should not be without critique. Players are questioned on this blog and referees will be too. They get paid to do a job and should expect to be critiqued as such.

If that makes us a “joke” in your eyes then we apologise.

          Kind regards,

          TBP

  7. Mate says:

In other news, was the game being filmed???

    • tbp2011 says:

      Yes Mate,

We expect the footage to be up some time today.

      Kind regards,

      TBP

      • Linemarker says:

Watched the video…and you are right it will continue to be discussed for some time. However maybe some simple questions may help solve the problem…and bear in mind I have only seen the video…
        1. Was there a goal scoring opportunity? – no…the ball had been cleared by the defender.
        2. That old referees trick…where was the goalkeeper looking? – IMHO he was looking at the ball not the player he hit.
        3. To me it looks like the goalkeeper went to play the ball and when the defender got there first he pulled out so as not to collide with his own play which left him only one place to go.
The Olympia player could have peeled off to the right but probably did not have time and was following the ball.
All in all – not the last line of defence and I don’t believe there was an intent to foul. I would have thought a yellow card would have been sufficient and a free kick to Olympia for a late tackle.

  8. Mamacas says:

    We are the Warriors
We are the old Blue Warriors
We’re the team that never lets you down
We’re the only Warriors in Hobart Town
    With all the champions
    They like to send us
    We’ll keep our end up
And they will know that they’ve been playing
    Against the famous Warrior Blues!
    O – L – Y – M – P – I – A

  9. matt says:

disappointing to see knights play an older guy in this game. Surely the logical thing for a club to do is give a younger fella a go or something along those lines. Thoughts TBP?
